Shilajit Extract

Short Description

Shilajit translates generally to "rock of life," or "destroyer of weakness" in Sanskrit, and it is considered the keystone of Ayurvedic medicine. Our Shilajit comes from the high altitude, pristine environments of the Himalayan Mountains in India. The raw material for shilajit extract is formed over several million years from naturally occurring plant material transformed through a combination of weather cycles and pressure, and has been collected by the communities around the Himalayas for years. In its concentrated form, shilajit can help with many body functions and is easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

Shilajit forms over several million years as plant and other organic matter is trapped between layers of mountain rock. Under the weight of the mountains, pressure and weather cycles, the plants and organic matter are slowly transformed into mineral rich pitch. Our shilajit originates in altitudes between 16,000 and 18,000 feet, where the environment is pristine and void of pollutants, fertilizers and chemicals. During the summer months, the mountains heat up and the shilajit raw material (asphaltum) warms, becomes viscous and can be seen seeping between cracks in the layers of rock. People from the local communities travel up the mountains each summer and collect the shilajit by hand, as they have been doing for generations. Once the shilajit material has been collected. it is sent to a local facility where it is extracted 5:1. The extraction process must be done repetitively to remove impurities and concentrate the shilajit. After the shilajit concentrate is made, it is dried, milled and sifted until it is uniform in size. Our shilajit contains 5% fulvic acid, and has extremely low trace lead levels compared to other products on the market.

Shilajit has a bitter earthy taste, and can be used in drinks and smoothies, as well as blended with spicy or full-flavored foods. Shilajit is considered the keystone of Ayurvedic medicine and it is used in many herbal recipes for cleansing, purification and immunity.

The Himalayan Mountains are made up of over a hundred of mountains that separate most of India from the Tibetan Plateau.
